Road Trip!

I was so excited to see that there were 7 comments on my last blog - an all time record! Thanks peeps - very encouraging indeed. I have been very excited about this post, since I actually did something last weekend! Bobby and I were given the lovely task of driving his work van over to London, loading it up with all their tools, and driving it back to Ireland.

Those of you up on your geography might be thinking "drive to London? isn't there water in between?" and you would be correct of course. Bobby flew over from London on Friday night and we set off at 5am to drive to Rosslare, Co Wexford to catch the ferry. This isn't an ordinary west coast ferry - it is HUGE and there is a cinema and pubs and everything on it. Sounds glamorous, right? WRONG. It is a rocking monstrosity that results in even the strongest of stomachs crying out for land. Luckily enough we had Top Chef season 4 to get us through!

We then drove through beautiful Wales and on into London. We loaded up the tools on Sunday and were off early Monday morning for the trip back. Although we did most of our sightseeing and picture taking out of the car window, at least I can say I've been to Wales!

PS - ordered the Top Chef cookbook on amazon! Going to have to stop just "conceptulizing" the dishes and actually "execute" them now!

Top Chef!

Hello again my loyal followers (ha)! Yes this is a new post, your eyes aren't deceiving you. You are probably thinking, 'hey she must have tons of time on her hands, why hasn't she been blogging?' and the answer is that I struggle to think of blogging topics since I.DO.NOTHING.

So I will blog about the little I have been doing and that's watching Top Chef. Once again, and I blame this on being in Ireland, I am probably the last person to discover how great this show is. When Char and I flew back from Sea-town, I had a long weekend in Edinburgh and to help us get over our jet lag, I bought season 3 on itunes. It was so good that I then bought season 4 and we watched all of them while I was there, mainly at 4am when we couldn't sleep.

And what's even better is that I watched them in such a sleep deprived, jet lagged state that I am now watching them again with Bobby and being surprised by what happens! We just finished season 3 and went out to dinner in London last night and what do we see on the menu? A pizza with truffle oil! It was amazing - they really aren't lying when they say how good that stuff is. Scumptious.

Anyway - I am still going back and forth between Ireland and London and trying to figure out what to do with my life when we go back to Ireland for good in February. I'm teaching my class and applying for a few more part-time lecturing positions while also looking at masters and trying to figure out how to get a financial backer to support me doing one this fall. We'll see!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm going home in 1 1/2 weeks! So excited. It's been great doing nothing but dare I say it, it's definetly got old. I do have a routine - get up at 9.30, make coffee and eat bran, watch a property show from 10-11, walk an hr and 45min into where Bobby works cause I'm too cheap to buy a tube pass, sit at Starbucks in the afternoon and sip peppermint tea while typing emails for Bobby or reading a paper.

Not bad but I'm excited to start my new 'teaching english on skype' career in January! I was going to start here - we ordered internet from AOL 3 weeks ago because they said we would have it in 5 days. Nothing happened for 2 weeks so we called Tuesday of last week and they said it would take 2-3 days to deliver it. Then we called on Monday because we still hadn't received it and they said there was a problem processing the order because of their "system" and it would be over a week until it could be delivered!! You would think getting internet in the middle of London wouldn't be a problem but NO. Needless to say I was fuming.

Anyway, since I have the internet now for a bit while Bobby is back on site, I'm downloading as many episodes of The Office (US version) as I can! We are obsessed and are currently on season 3 - so good! I know there are a million websites to download shows from but surfthechannel.com is really good.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone - wish I was home to eat pie and watch Home Alone!!

Football - Euro Style

B-bop and I journeyed to the northside of London yesterday to watch Tottenham v Liverpool in a Carling Cup game and Liverpool star Torres was (finally) starting after a few months of injury. We were thrilled and it was a great opportunity for me to scout out new players for my fantasy team (more on that later). That being said, Torres was HORRIBLE and did absolutely nothing and was actually taken off after 50 minutes or something. Crap! Torres - what is the problem? I know no one cares about the Carling Cup but you could have at least pretended to be interested! I am praying his injury was still annoying him and he's back better than ever this weekend. The game was entertaining, although the Pool lost 4-2. We sat in the Tottenham section so I had to pretend to be a fan all night - wasn't hard when they were playing so much better!

Back to fantasy football - as most people already know, "football" (soccer for us Americans) is huge in Euro-land. And, seeing as I currently do very little, I have gotten even more into it this year. A few weeks ago I decided to start a fantasy football team. It takes up a lot of time and I would highly recommend it - after all, these are "times of recession" and it's a great free activity.

Char, William, and I have started a league - The Champions - and are now in our 4th week. Although I am in 3rd place (yes, out of 3), I am inching my way back up and hope to have a big weekend coming up. Come on Torres!

Boourns

So mad right now - Counting Crows have cancelled their entire European Tour! We had tickets (me, b-bop, and Char) to see them on December 5th in Wembley and just got an email saying it was "rescheduled" to May sometime. Major boourns.
In slightly better news - I have figured out how to put pics up on the side of me blog - check out the fam before our Irish wedding! Will add more once I hook up our external hard drive and/or steal them from other people's blogs.
In even better news - Christina and Maria sent me a package with a photo album of our Irish wedding and...hot tamales! They are so good - and are probably the only thing Bobby won't eat! I scarfed one pack immediately and have frozen the other pack in the hope that it'll make me eat them slower. Thanks pudins - so nice of you!

I Lied

Ok so my blog wasn't really resurrected, as I don't think one meager post brings it back to life, but I am baby stepping back into it. I now have a new laptop and am getting high speed internet so have no excuses! I am preparing for teaching English over Skype and starting my own business, in between teaching at Carlow. Life is good - booked my flight for Christmas and am going home for 3 weeks! I can't wait to catch up with the fam, walk the lake, and just hang out. And, since we got bumped off our last flights home, Bobby and I got $500 big bones each towards these flights and mine ended up only costing €50! I am currently in Starbucks, drinking a savage soy americano out of the Christmasy red cup. Christmas time is here!

Blog - resurrected!

I am ashamed to say that I have neglected you, my poor blog! In my defense, I have been busy. But since I now have plenty of time, I am going to attempt to bring this blog back to life. Since my last post, I have gotten married (twice!), quit my job, got a new job, and moved to London! I am now lecturing at Carlow IT and loving it - unfortunately it's only every other Saturday, so I am joining Bobby in London in between classes. Here's some pics from the Seattle wedding!
